Advertising starts off as a fairly straightforward game on Ferris Beuller’s party, with a teenage couple planning to take daddy’s hot rod for a ride. The dialogue is virtually identical, although they apparently had to go with a different model of sports car. Everything changes when we learn that the ad is for the garage door opener. And this one has a camera and smartphone control, so Alan Ruck can keep the kids out of his car. It’s kind of weird that of all things this ad sells a garage door opener, but I won’t claim it didn’t work. If I was in the market, I would definitely remember this one.
