A new Monster Hunter clip shows Diablos and Rathalos!
When Sony recently released a brief teaser for the film adaptation of Monster hunter, it is safe to say that some players were puzzled. What were tanks and guns doing in an adaptation of a fantasy game? Would he take the same kind of liberties he did with Resident Evil? Obviously, Anderson wants to reassure fans that the fundamentals of monsters and hunting them won’t be disrupted. So, in this new video with game producer Ryozo Tsujimoto and director Kaname Fujioka, he shows how the creature creations in the film are directly inspired by the models in the game. Most notably, we get a good look at Diablos and Rathalos.

The creators seem to approve and thank Anderson for incorporating the changes they suggested. And the new footage suggests Milla Jovovich won’t be stuck in military gear for the entire movie. Indeed, from what’s shown here, she will adapt to more fantasy-based outfits and weapons once the monsters start to appear in earnest.
Anderson, of course, has made faithful video game adaptations before. The original Mortal combat film, although somewhat dated now, stuck to the storyline and characters of the game, much to the delight of most fans. Throwing modern characters into Monster hunterThe gaming world might be a curve ball, but given how much game makers love what they see, it might just be the only one.
