School warns Calpol could ‘mask’ coronavirus symptoms in children

A school has informed parents that giving Calpol children could ‘mask’ one of the telltale signs of the coronavirus.

Warmley Park School and College in South Gloucestershire confirmed two cases of COVID-19 last week and wrote to parents on Friday October 16 with advice.

The bulletin, signed by principal Lisa Parker, said the school was performing temperature checks twice a day to identify children with potential fever.

She wrote: “A polite reminder that we ask parents and guardians to contact us before sending their child to school if they have had Calpol.

“This follows advice from Public Health England that Calpol may mask a fever which is a symptom of COVID.

“We take the students’ temperatures twice a day, every day and this has been approved by Public Health. “
