The “Family Guy” showrunners have found their new voice of Cleveland Brown – he’s a black YouTuber who can handle the role with ease, and probably a few others on the show too. Arif Zahir was chosen to play Cleveland for the 19th season in 2021-2022. The former white voice actor from Cleveland, Mike Henry, will have its last round for the 18th season, which begins on Sunday. He announced in June that he was stepping down from the role. Zahir is a great choice… for one, he’s African American, something producer of “FG” and Henry himself. wanted in new actor take over. More importantly, the guy is perfect with his impression… something he’s featured on his channel for a while now. He is famous for his knockoffs, which include Cleveland, Obama, Asset, Ted, Stewie Griffin, 21 Wild … and others. In case you missed it – it’s THREE characters in the MacFarland verse that Zahir can pull off without a problem – and he could probably do Peter just as easily. So if Seth was sick for a day of recording, Arif could potentially replace him. The point is… the guy is a catch-all talent, and Henry himself recognized that. He said of the cast, “I welcome Arif to the Family Guy team. Arif’s vocal talent is evident, but his understanding of Cleveland and his respect for the character gives me confidence that he’s in good hands. He adds, “I can’t wait to get to know Arif and work with him to make sure Cleveland remains as awesome as it always has been. “
Arif himself has said he is eternally grateful for the opportunity and has promised fans not to let them down. The change comes in the wake of several animated shows – including “The Simpsons” – pledging to choose actors of color for roles that coincide with their race.
