Where to pre-order Xbox Series X
Xbox Series X / Xbox Series S – $ 499.99 / $ 299.99 at Microsoft
Microsoft appears to have sold both the Xbox Series S and the Xbox Series X, but the website doesn’t explicitly say so. Instead, the “configure now” button is grayed out, preventing you from adding consoles to your cart. Without an explicit “out of stock” button and given that these are Microsoft consoles, we would expect more stock to arrive soon.

Xbox Series X / Xbox Series S – $ 499.99 / $ 299.99 at Amazon
Amazon seemed to sell out pretty quickly (resulting in plenty of site crashes), but we expect it to have a pretty sizable stock of Xbox Series X pre-orders up its sleeve. The listing says ‘currently unavailable’ so it’s possible that we will see more stock when the website stabilizes a bit. However, you will face more competition here so you will need to be quick. Xbox Series X / Xbox Series S – $ 499.99 / $ 299.99 at Newegg
Newegg’s Xbox Series X pre-orders do not appear to have gone live yet. So there is still hope that we will see stock at this retailer soon, but it will likely move quickly.

Xbox Series X / Xbox Series S – $ 499.99 / $ 299.99 at Best Buy
Best Buy sold out in no time on the Xbox Series S / X. However, the site currently lists both consoles as “coming soon,” so it’s possible that we could see another wave of stock.

Xbox Series X / Xbox Series S – $ 499.99 / $ 299.99 at Walmart
Walmart has turned out to be extremely popular Xbox Series X pre-orders – and has now listed both consoles as “out of stock.” However, this retailer has a habit of turning pre-orders on and off – so if you see a “sold out” message or can’t place your order, don’t give up. Xbox Series X / Xbox Series S: $ 499.99 / $ 299.99 at GameStop
GameStop also lists both consoles as “unavailable”. We don’t know if there will be more stock, but there is a slight possibility that it will. It might be worth going to a physical store to check (while taking the necessary precautions to stay safe) – but we hope not.

What to do while Xbox Series X pre-orders are sold out
Try to check in at physical stores – if you feel comfortable doing so
Retailers are likely to have allocated inventory for physical stores as well as online stores – you might get lucky depending on pre-order supplies where you are. However, we encourage you to only visit physical retailers if you feel comfortable and safe.
Keep an eye on Xbox social media channels
Even though this was still a messy first pre-order window (to put it mildly), Microsoft has been more transparent when it comes to pre-order information. By setting the date in advance, he was able to give potential buyers an easy overview of times and where to pre-order. So:
Pre-orders for Xbox Series X | S will go live on September 22 at 8am BST at the following UK retailers: 🖥️ Microsoft Store📦 Amazon🎮 GAME🅰️ Argos🍛 Currys PC World🛒 Tesco🧸 Smyths Toys👪 John Lewis & Partners🟩 AO .com 💜 Very .co.uk ✉️ ShopTo .net⭐️ SimplyGamesSeptember 16, 2020
With Xbox Series X pre-orders sold out, your local Xbox Twitter account will likely keep you posted about the possibility of stock reemergence for each console.
If the PS5 and Xbox Series X are sold out, what should I buy instead?
Consider the Nintendo Switch, or its cheaper handheld-only alternative, the Nintendo Switch Lite. Both consoles are significantly lower than the new machines, and they will miss most of the major titles coming to Xbox Series X and PS5.
But while their libraries are very different, the Nintendo Switch arguably has a library of top-notch exclusive games: The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Super Mario Odyssey, Animal Crossing: New Horizons and more. is just a sample.
If you really want a console to play this year and you’re sure you’ve missed out on the Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PS5, it’s way better than going for a PS4 and an Xbox One – both. (obviously) soon replaced.
