WWE Raw Results, Recap, Notes: Drew McIntyre Punishes Randy Orton, Mysterio Family Get Revenge

Randy Orton took a rough ride in 2020, brutally attacking anyone and anyone who falls on his bad side. On Monday’s edition of WWE Raw, the tables were turned, however, with WWE Champion Drew McIntyre putting Orton on the defensive through a series of attacks that lasted most of the show. After a series of Orton attacks left McIntyre with a broken jaw and forced to be taken out of the area by ambulance just a few weeks ago, McIntyre followed Orton’s script on Monday. McIntyre attacked Orton three times during the show, landing three Claymores and apparently injuring Orton’s jaw as he left “The Viper” to be taken from the arena in an ambulance.

CBS Sports was with you all night, bringing the highlights, recaps, and ratings from Raw. Read on for all the details of WWE’s flagship TV show.

Drew McIntyre finds his reward

Orton opened the show to discuss being forced to face Keith Lee once again, pointing out that the more the two paths crossed, the more likely Lee was to get hit on the head. Orton focused on McIntyre, pointing out that their match at Clash of Champions would only happen and McIntyre is able to obtain medical clearance. That means, Orton said, if McIntyre can’t defend the title, he should win the championship on a pay-per-view basis. McIntyre then showed up behind the wheel of an ambulance and quickly punched Orton out to leave him lying in the ring. McIntyre was confronted with WWE officials behind the scenes after the attack, agreeing to leave because he had already done what he came for. McIntyre continued to find reasons why he had not left for the remainder of the show as Adam Pearce repeatedly attempted to get him out of the building.

Randy Orton bat. Keith Lee par disqualification after a crash by McIntyre. Lee looked strong again for much of the match, but was ultimately the victim of an RKO by Orton. As Orton was about to go get the pin, McIntyre ran and hit a Claymore to dispose Orton and remove the disqualification. Pearce taught McIntyre on going up the entrance ramp to put himself in danger because he was not medically cleared. Orton went on to sell an injured jaw as McIntyre took revenge for his own fractured jaw. Later in the series, McIntyre attacked Orton backstage before delivering his third Claymore in the series, leading Orton to be taken out of the building in an ambulance.

There was no reason to book Orton vs Lee again. The game has been played twice in the past two weeks and Lee being relegated to “the other guy” status does him little favor. Two of those three encounters ended the same way, although tonight’s game was left with the feeling that Lee was on the verge of losing net after winning an RKO, one of the most protected finishers in the world. WWE. There is a certain logic in McIntyre that effectively repeats Orton’s attack on him, but it was not a great journey through the series and largely falls on the logic of “WWE security cannot. do nothing good ”. Completely average stuff that doesn’t make Orton’s huge 2020 or Lee’s status as a new force of justice. Quality: C +

Les Mysterios se vengent de Murphy

The Mysterio family were interviewed in the ring, with Rey saying he didn’t have a schedule to recover from his triceps injury. As Dominik tried to talk about it, he felt like he represented his family in WWE, Murphy interrupted the Tron. Murphy blamed the Mysterios for making Seth Rollins – the only man who had picked him up when he was down – to turn his back on him. Murphy then challenged Dominik to improve his match in street fighting, which Dominik agreed to.

Dominik Mysterio defeats. Murphy by verbal submission after a series of kendo hits. The Mysterio family were at ringside with kendo sticks during the match. Murphy dominated the majority of the match, brutalizing Dominik with a variety of weapons, including brutal chair kicks. Murphy interrupted Dominik’s return attempt and tied him to the ropes before grabbing a kendo stick, but Rey stole the stick. Murphy opted to go out and take a table instead, but the Mysterio women freed Dominik from the ropes, allowing Dominik to strike a sunset bomb from the ring to the outside and across a table. Dominik, Rey, and the Mysterio Women then hit Murphy with a long series of kendo stick kicks while he was tied in the ropes until Murpny stopped. The show ended as the Mysterio family continued to bombard Murphy with kendo sticks.

In a weak show, the ending was solid, with a cathartic moment for the Mysterio family. Rollins’ lack left Murphy on an island and outnumbered, which had been a boon to Rollins and Murphy for months. The end-of-show visual of Murphy’s brutalized by the Mysterios was a wonderful moment, even though it fit firmly into the long list of games we’ve seen in one form or another repeatedly over the past few weeks and months. . What Else Happened on WWE Raw?

  • The Hurt Business def. Ricochet, Cedric Alexander et Apollo Crews via chute after Shelton Benjamin hit Paydirt on Crews. The Hurt Business beat up a guard for saying hello as they entered the arena, then attacked Alexander as he entered. Alexander then turned around during the match, attacking Ricochet and having crews with lumbar control. Alexander’s turn was long in coming and needed to refresh that whole angle.

  • The Street Profits def. Andrade and Angel Garza via pinfall after Montez Ford hit Cash Out on Andrade. Andrade and Zelina Vega walked past Garza on his entry, which resulted in Garza relinquishing his side moments after the game started and the Profits took a win in under two minutes. Cesaro and Shinsuke Nakamura then introduced themselves, the champions of the “invading” SmackDown tag. Cesaro and Nakamura have launched a champion-to-champion challenge for next week’s Raw.

  • Peyton Royce bat. Billie Kay via pinfall after a corkscrew neck cutter. Royce hugged his former partner IIconics after scoring the victory. If there was any doubt the whole point of separating the team was to give Royce a chance, it ended here. Not a good game.

  • Asuka and Mickie James fight. Natalya & Lana via submission after Asuka locked Lana in Asuka Lock. James and Asuka clashed a bit throughout the match, stealing tags from each other, but came off a fairly easy victory.

  • The Hurt Business def. Ricochet, Apollo Crews et les Viking Raiders. After Alexander appeared in the VIP lounge to explain his turn, the Viking Raiders, Ricochet, and Crews ran up and attacked, leading to the match. Alexander should have cleared Shelton Benjamin’s doubts about his turn after dropping Ricochet on the head. Ricochet appeared to send off to two on arrival to set up a completely unnecessary rematch. Ivar may also have injured his arm during a suicide dive, reporting it as such during the match and having been treated after its conclusion.

  • Kevin Owens and Aleister Black fought on Raw Underground, and it was spread over several segments rather than showing it as a whole. Dabba-Kato knocked out both men after being struck on the outside in a set of really miserable segments that came to nothing.

  • Le Riott Squad a vaincu. Shayna Baszler via pinfall after a roll-up. It was the first of two 2-on-1 handicap matches. Baszler dominated until Liv Morgan’s surprising victory.

  • Retribution interrupted the Riott Squad against Nia Jax. In the middle of the game, the lights were blinking before the pay graphics appeared on the ThunderDome screens. The group then cut a brief promo, lightly touching on their motives, saying they wanted to punish WWE for leaving them in a cold and cruel world and would seek to punish all the superstars and fans who bought what WWE was selling. .
