The anonymous woman was swinging out of the vehicle on the M25 motorway in south London, Surrey police wrote on Twitter.
“It was only luck that she was not seriously injured or killed,” they said.
They posted a photo of the open passenger window, next to the hashtag #nowords.
Asked by a user if the officers explained the dangers of the attempt to the woman, the police replied, “At every opportunity they fixed the problem before we told them!”
The researchers found that the highest number of selfie deaths occurred in India, followed by Russia, the United States and Pakistan. Most of the victims were men (around 72%) and under the age of 30.
Last year, four members of the same family drowned in a dam in India after slipping into the water trying to take a selfie.
