What to expect for Amazon Prime Day 2020

We didn’t have Amazon Prime Day 2020 during its usual time slot in July, but that doesn’t mean it won’t happen. Amazon confirmed on July 21 that Prime Day is still relevant this year. They haven’t given us an exact time yet, but rumors have it that it will happen in October. Historically, Prime Day is Amazon’s biggest selling day of the year outside of Black Friday. Despite the delay, we expect there to be the best deals of 2020 worth the wait. If you want to be prepared for the thousands of deals that will be going live that day, read this article and make sure all the basics are covered. Note that other merchants including Best Buy, Walmart, and Dell , will likely make them organize their own sales to compete with Amazon Prime Day.

Sign up for an Amazon Prime membership

And don’t forget to stay connected!Amazon Prime members get the best deals on Prime Day. If you are an experienced Amazon buyer, I recommend signing up for the 1 year subscription as it provides the best long term value. The $ 119 / year fee is well worth the many benefits of Amazon Prime. If you don’t normally buy from Amazon and Prime Day is an exception, there are cheaper ways to get a Prime membership.

Sign up for a free Amazon Prime Rewards card

Amazon Prime subscription requiredIt is definitely one of my favorite cards. The Amazon Prime Rewards Visa card gives you 5% discount on all Amazon purchases and no annual fee. If you are a regular Amazon buyer, this perk alone should be reason enough to sign up for this card. You will also get 2% cash back at restaurants, drugstores and gas stations and 1% everywhere else.

That’s not all. You also get a $ 50 Amazon credit when you sign up. On Amazon Prime Day, Amazon Card members will enjoy exclusive discounts of up to 15% across multiple categories. In the past, this included cameras, home theater electronics, home decor, video games, etc.

Pay with your debit card? You can still get cashback!

Amazon Prime subscription required

For those of you who would rather make purchases with a debit card rather than a credit card, you’re still in luck. Simply top up your Amazon balance with a debit card and get 2% cash back. All you do is transfer funds from one account (your debit card) to another (your Amazon account) and Amazon basically rewards you for that.

Get free credits by choosing standard (non-expedited) delivery

One of the biggest benefits for Amazon Prime members is free expedited shipping. But do you need expedited shipping for every purchase? If you opt for free standard delivery instead. Amazon will give you between $ 1-5 in Amazon Credits for digital products (like games and software), Prime Pantry, music, Kindle eBooks, and more. One of the great advantages of this offer is that your digital credit is cumulative; order enough items and you could potentially get games for free.

Amazon Alexa device owners can take advantage of exclusive Prime Day offers

If you have an Amazon Echo, Echo Dot, Amazon Tap, Fire TV, or Fire Tablet device, ask your device ” Alexa, what are your offers“, And Alexa will spit out unique offers that can’t be found anywhere else. Amazon has confirmed that there will be quite a few exclusive Alexa offers on Prime Day.

What type of transactions do we expect

In previous Prime Days, Amazon touted “hundreds of thousands of offers” and that has more or less been true. While Amazon has been more low-key this year, we expect a similar Prime Day scenario. These offers cover just about every category that Amazon offers. The vast majority of these deals are from more obscure market vendors, but there are still thousands of deals on branded items being sold and shipped from Amazon. These typically include PlayStation, Xbox or Nintendo game consoles, laptops and gaming PCs, Apple iPads and MacBooks, 4K TVs, Amazon Echo and Kindle devices, Roomba vacuums, Instant pressure cookers. Pot, etc. The offers are divided into two types: “Prime Day offers” which last all day and “Lightning offers” which only last a few hours (or a few minutes if the item is very popular).
