The BNS news agency reported that Macron would also be visiting Lithuania at the end of September.

France sent several hundred troops this summer to the German-led NATO International Battalion deployed in Lithuania. France has participated in NATO’s space patrol mission in the Baltic States, while Lithuania is sending its troops to Mali at the request of France.

French President Emanuel Macron met the presidents of the three Baltic states two years ago in Paris, marking the hundredth anniversary of the Baltic. At the time, Macron told the Baltic leaders: “This choice of Europe that you made is all the more important in a very murky and uncertain international context. This situation obliges us to continue the close cooperation between our countries. “
