Tyron Woodley is still feeling the sting of his fifth round TKO loss to Colby Covington last weekend at UFC Vegas 11. He could be forced into a lengthy layoff due to injuries sustained in that fight.

The former UFC welterweight champion was forced to quit the contest after suffering a broken rib in the last round after Covington had already dominated the majority of the fight. It was a disappointing end for Woodley, who not only lost to a longtime rival, but he also gave up his third fight in a row.

As a result of this injury, Woodley revealed through an x-ray that he suffered a broken rib during the fight, which could potentially keep him away for several months.

The Nevada Athletic Commission issued the card’s medical suspensions on Tuesday, with Woodley facing a possible six-month term due to the rib injury from the bout. Woodley will need his injuries repaired by an orthopedic surgeon, or he will be forced to be absent until March 19, 2021. At a minimum, Woodley will not be allowed to compete until November 4 at the earliest.

Meanwhile, main event co-fighter Niko Price faces a similar sentence after being suspended for six months due to a right hand injury following his bout with Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone. Price must have his right hand x-rayed, and if the results are positive, he must have an orthopedic surgeon evacuate him, otherwise he will be sidelined until March 19, 2021.
