Tvesa Malik scores under 70, seventh at the French Open | Golf news

BORDEAUX: Indian golfer Tvesa Malik shot a first round of an Under 70 in hot Open De France conditions to be tied for seventh on the difficult course of the Chateaux par 71.
Malik started off with a birdie but gave back-to-back bogeys in the third and fourth. She fought back superbly with a trio of birds in the seventh, eighth and ninth to turn two under 34 on Thursday.
On nine back, she was very stable with eight pars and her only shot was on Par-3 12th. She was T-11 when she finished, but by the time the 78-player finished under tough scoring conditions she had moved up to T-7.
She is now two steps away from the trio of leaders, English players Charlotte Thompson and Gabriella Cowley and local amateur and beginner Lucie Malchirand, who shot opening rounds of 68 (-3) each to share the lead.
Things were miserable, however, for Diksha dagar, who had a horrific round of 18 over 89. His last three rounds are now in the 80s, 87-80 of which were in Switzerland.
Dagar ironically started off with a birdie, but went on to have six bogeys, two doubles and three triple bogeys.
Malik, who missed the cup in Switzerland last week, is in his full season in Europe. She was T-20 in Czech Ladies and T-4 at Flumserberg Ladies Open on LET Access Series.
Conditions were such that only 17 of the 78 players broke the parity. The 36-hole cup will drop at the end of the second round, with 36 players proceeding to the final round.
