Thiago Alcantara only needed 45 minutes in a Liverpool shirt to break a Premier League record. The Spaniard, who arrived for £ 20million from Bayern Munich on Friday, made his debut two days later in the Reds’ 2-0 win over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

Sadio Mane scored both goals in the second half as Frank Lampard’s side watched Andreas Christensen receive a red card following a VAR exam.

But the match stats show how much of an impact Thiago made when he came off the bench for the second half.

The 29-year-old made 75 passes in his time on the pitch, which is more than any of the Chelsea players throughout the game.

They are also the most successful passes made by any player with a maximum of 45 minutes in the Premier League since the records started in the 2003-04 season.
