13 h 16 PT – The Miami Beach PD tells TMZ there was no apparent sign of foul play and that Morillo’s cause of death will be determined by the medical examiner.
DJ Erick morillo – best known for his 1993 hit, “I Like to Move It” – has passed away… TMZ has learned.
Police sources tell us that the body of the DJ and music producer was found this morning in Miami Beach … the circumstances surrounding his death are currently unclear.
Best known for his work in international house music, Morillo produced his biggest hit in the 90s with the electro-dance track “I Like to Move It”… which he released under the stage name Reel 2 Real.
He has won the Best House DJ award 3 times at the DJ Awards and 3 times the Best International DJ award… including his most recent victory in 2009.
Morillo’s death comes weeks after his arrest in Miami on charges of sexual violence. The alleged victim claims that she and Morillo went to his home after both DJing. She alleges that she resisted his sexual advances, then fell asleep at his house, but woke up naked… with Morillo standing next to her, also naked.
He had surrendered on August 6.
Morillo was 49 years old.
