Sunderland’s first night after the new 10 p.m. curfew is introduced in the northeast


This week, the Northeast was hit by tougher lockdowns, including a 10 p.m. curfew on places of recreation and entertainment scheduled to close between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m.The first pubs, bars and restaurants were forced to close last night after the introduction of stricter measures.

At 10 p.m. Sunderland town center was very quiet with police making their presence visible on the street.

The pubs were empty by 10pm and the take out was only serving the last two people who arrived before the curfew.

By 10:25 p.m. the streets were practically empty, no one in town, just taxi drivers with no passengers to take.
