On Saturday night Ron Cephas Jones won a second Emmy for his guest tour in the NBC mega-hit This is us, and this is was a family affair, as Jones’ daughter Jasmine Cephas Jones also won an Emmy Thursday night, for her work on Quibi #FreeRayshawn, making them the first father-daughter winners in Emmy history.Speaking in the virtual backstage press room, Ron Cephas Jones said, “As a parent, this is the most fulfilling I can feel right now. Winning another Emmy is the icing on the cake but seeing my daughter progressing and moving to this place where she won an Emmy is beyond words and I tear myself apart every time I think about it to be honest with you. . To see my daughter become happy and healthy is a parent’s dream.

He added: “We’ve always been focused on work since she was little, and coming from the theater it’s always been about trying to do a good job… when you do what you want to do and you are happy and you are in good health is the victory in itself… When we found out that she was nominated, I told her that it is the victory in itself when your work is recognized and the victory is same is the icing on the cake that keeps you humble and keeps you hungry.

Have previously won for It’s us in 2018, Jones was nominated four times for the role of William Hill in Dan Fogelman’s multigenerational drama, which follows the Pearson family to the present day, and in flashbacks and flash forwards. “It’s the first role that I had as a professional actor on television in a series where I actually had a long role so I was able to find all these beautiful layers in the character over several seasons. It gave me the opportunity to finally show the level of work that I am capable of accomplishing.

He added that he was also developing projects with Jasmine. “I hope where things are to come as well as some collaborations with my daughter.”
