Roland-Garros qualifications: five players excluded after positive Covid-19 tests

Five anonymous players withdrew from French Open qualifying after two players and a coach tested positive for the coronavirus.

Qualifications for the Roland Garros tournament will begin on Monday.

A statement read: “The directors of the Roland Garros tournament can confirm that two players from the qualifying tournament have tested positive for Covid-19.

“Three others have confirmed close contact with a trainer who tested positive for Covid-19. “

He added: “In accordance with tournament health protocols, the five players will not participate in the qualifying tournament which begins tomorrow. [Monday] and will self-isolate for a period of seven days.

“In total, some 900 tests have been carried out since Thursday, September 17. “
