Vancouver needs a goalie with its last starting goalie, 21-year-old academy product Thomas Hasal injured. Hasal was the third goaltender, but he won the starting position after starter Maxime Crepeau and substitute Bryan Meredith were unavailable during the MLS is Back tournament in July.

Hasal suffered an apparent head injury in a win over Real Salt Lake on September 19 and Meredith, who had not played in consecutive games since 2012, has since replaced.
