The Winnipeg Jets are considering the possibility of trading forward Patrik Laine, TSN’s Darren Dreger reported on Thursday’s edition of “Insider Trading”.“Absolutely, they are serious. … The Winnipeg Jets know what their needs are, ”said Dreger. “They need a No.2 cross and they need to strengthen the top four on their blue line. Kevin Cheveldayoff, the managing director there, can’t just rely on free will. ”

“Somehow, Kevin Cheveldayoff is listening to Patrik Laine,” Dreger added.

The Jets selected the winger with the second pick in the 2016 NHL Draft. Since his debut as a rookie in the 2016-17 season, he ranks seventh in the league with 138 goals.

The Columbus Blue Jackets and the Carolina Hurricanes are two teams that have expressed an interest in Laine, reports Pierre LeBrun of TSN.

Laine signed a two-year bridge contract last season, worth an average of $ 6.5 million annually. He will be a restricted free agent at the end of the 2020-21 campaign.

During the 2019-20 regular season, Laine scored 28 goals and a career-high 35 assists in 68 games.
