Report: New York Giants to train on RB Freeman after Barkley’s injury

With Saquon Barkley potentially finished for the season, the New York Giants bring veteran Devonta Freeman to him for a practice session on Tuesday, according to SNY’s Ralph Vacchiano.

ESPN reported on Sunday that the Giants feared Barkley tore his ACL in the team’s 17-13 loss to the Chicago Bears. Barkley was blown off the field by coaches after a run early in the first quarter.

Freeman rushed for 656 yards and two touchdowns in 14 starts after playing just two games in 2018 due to injury. He remains a free agent after being unsigned during the offseason.

A 2014 Florida State fourth-round pick by the Falcons, Freeman has spent his entire NFL career in Atlanta. He is a two-time Pro Bowler (2015, 2016) and led the league in rushing yards in 2015.
