Reasons to watch Cobra Kai on Netflix

Strike first, strike hard, without mercy. 🐍

Last weekend, seasons 1 and 2 of Cobra Kai deposited on Netflix. As someone who loves TV, let me say this show is all I could never want to be in a TV series.

But in case you haven’t watched it yet, here are 15 reasons why you absolutely should:

Cobra Kai follows events 34 years later The Karate Kid, so it’s not a ~ reboot ~. It’s actually more of a series of sequels.

And don’t worry if you haven’t seen The Karate Kid, because this show is totally likely to be enjoyed as a standalone series.

Like someone who didn’t grow up with The Karate Kid, I can confirm that the show is just as awesome without seeing the original movie. You don’t need to be afraid of missing out on something important, as there are also a bunch of flashbacks. But if you to have seen the movie, the series is even more enjoyable.

Ralph Macchio and William Zabka both helped develop the series and reprise their iconic roles as Daniel LaRusso and Johnny Lawrence, respectively.

Macchio told Rolling Stone that it was important to make sure the series honored Mr. Miyagi’s legacy, especially as Pat Morita, who played Miyagi, director of the film John Avildsen and producer Jerry Weintraub all died before the series premiered.

Macchio and Zabka aside, the show features a whole bunch of equally talented up and coming actors that you can’t help but love.

Mary Mouser, Tanner Buchanan, Jacob Bertrand and Xolo Maridueña are one little incredible actors of the series.

You will also see some Karate Kid characters, in addition to Daniel and Johnny.

Martin Kove and Rob Garrison make appearances, along with a few others.

The series is a perfect mix of genres with aspects of comedy and teen drama…

… Plus a pinch of the right size action.

And there is nothing too much NSFW, so it’s perfect for the whole family.

Also, nostalgia and the current mainstream combo is * the chef’s kiss *.

Like I said before, it’s based on the iconic ’80s blockbuster movie, so you better believe there will be a lot of nostalgic references. From the band’s iconic t-shirts and retro cars to Johnny’s inability to figure out how to use a computer, older fans will be able to LOL as much as younger ones.

The series debuted on YouTube Premium in 2018, but since its transfer to Netflix, the series has grown from a super niche web series to # 1 within days.

It’s a super easy watch with two seasons of 10 episodes, and each episode is about 30 minutes long.

The fight scenes are absolutely crazy.

You literally will never be able to stop looking at them cause they are just this good.

You’ll come for the Cobra Kai and Miyagi-Do rivalry, but you’ll stick with the nuanced and well-written characters.

Cobra Kai does an amazing job of humanizing everyone. There are no clear villains or heroes in this story, which makes it even more entertaining. The Cobra Kai-Miyagi-Do rivalry is just the catalyst for all the action to come.

Basically everyone in the entire cast is a badass.

Don’t spoil the ending for you, but Season 2 leaves you on a HUGE cliffhanger.

This show is practically begging you to keep watching. This is storytelling at its best, folks.

And finally, the best news: Season 3 is coming in 2021.
