‘Probable’ COVID-19 transmission detected in Edmonton school: Hinshaw


EDMONTON – An outbreak at a school in Edmonton was “probably” caused by the first transmission at the school in Alberta, Dr Deena Hinshaw said Friday. Two people from Waverley School tested positive Thursday, the Edmonton Public School Board told CTV News. About 12 students in a combined grade 1 and 2 class and seven staff members are isolated.

Hinshaw said the two were in school when they were contagious and one of the cases “appears to have been the source of the other”.

“It seems like a likely explanation,” Hinshaw said.
