Peyton Royce reportedly slated for singles surge

WWE officials are said to have planned to push Peyton Royce. As reported, the IIconics were forced to disband on this week’s RAW after losing a tag team game to Ruby Riott and Liv Morgan. According to the stipulation, the Riott Squad won Clash of Champions on September 27, WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler were also drawn.

While the split doesn’t mean Billie Kay is leaving WWE or something, PWInsider reports Royce is destined for a singles push.

It’s not yet clear exactly what WWE has in store for Royce, but word is that they want to push her and they want to try a different route with her.

It was also noted that Kay was not being punished and that the split was not due to some sort of immediate issue with her. It was speculated that with Kay taking the beating on RAW Underground, while Royce watched, it could open the door for Kay to be temporarily taken off TV, eventually putting her on SmackDown. However, Kay heading to SmackDown has not been confirmed.

The push for Royce dates back to a recent report from the Wrestling Observer newsletter, which noted how WWE President and CEO Vince McMahon publicly praised Royce in a creative meeting. Vince reportedly commented on how he sees Royce and Bianca Belair as singles stars, and how he was a big fan of the current character that the SmackDown Women’s Champion uses by Bayley. The decision was recently made that Royce is one of the RAW superstars that will be pushed in the future, and the separation from the IIconics was their way of putting her on that track.

Stay tuned for updates on Royce and Kay’s plans. For those who missed them, below are their post-split statements from Instagram that were posted earlier this week:
