NY / NJ figures drop since Saturday, positivity rate still above 1%


NEW YORK – After a Saturday that saw both states post their highest number of new coronavirus cases since June, New York and New Jersey saw a slight decrease in cases on Sunday.New York Governor Andrew Cuomo on Sunday announced 866 new positive cases of COVID-19, up from 1,005 on Saturday. The positivity rate was 1.02%, up from 1% on Saturday.

New York City has notified residents of “areas of concern” in Brooklyn and Queens, where the positivity rate is between 2% and 6%.

New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy announced 712 new cases of coronavirus in the state, up from 760 on Saturday. The state’s positivity rate is 1.12%. Ocean County has shown a lot of new positive cases lately.
