Nikola Jokic said the Denver Nuggets communicated poorly in defense on Anthony Davis’ three wins in their 105-103 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers.Mason Plumlee started final possession guarding Davis, with Jerami Grant guarding LeBron James.

Plumlee and Grant both found themselves on top of James, giving Davis space to receive and shoot the ball.

“Either it’s gonna be him or LeBron [James to take the last shot], so we kind of knew that. Just arrived, a bit of miscommunication. I think I had a really good competition, to be honest. I think I was right there. As soon as he shot the ball, he shot it really well. Like, I felt him come in, ”Jokic said of Davis’ shot.

The Nuggets have now lost 2-0 in the series.

Jokic and Michael Malone have said the Nuggets need to keep fighting in the series, although Malone found a silver lining in that the Lakers need a last second to win the game.

“The only thing you can talk about tonight is that we were in the game. They had to rely on a great shot from a great player to beat us to the buzzer. But as long as we put ourselves in a position to win games, that’s all you can ask for. One thing I know about our squad, even though we are disappointed, frustrated, angry, we will use that motivation to come out and try to win Game 3. ”
