Flanking Draisaitl as first team striker is Hart Trophy finalist Artemi Panarin of the New York Rangers on the left wing and winner of the Maurice Richard Trophy David pastrnak of the Boston Bruins on the right wing. The defenders are winners of the Norris Trophy Romain Josi of the Nashville Predators and finalist John Carlson from the capitals of Washington. The goalkeeper is winner of the Vezina trophy Connor Hellebuyck of the Winnipeg Jets.The six members of the first team make their career debuts with the team for the first time since the NHL All-Star Team selection began in 1930-31. Panarin, Carlson and Hellebuyck had previously been elected in a second team.

Four of six second-team spots are won by Atlantic Division and 2020 Stanley Cup Playoff rivals the Boston Bruins and Tampa Bay Lightning.

The Bruins voted for second-team goaltenders Tuukka Rask, adding to his place in the first team in 2013-14, and the left winger Brad Marchand, receiving his third career playoff nod (1 first team, 2 second team). Second-team Lightning players are defenders Victor Hedman and the right wing Nikita Kucherov, who are both All-Stars in the playoffs for the fourth time (Hedman, 1 first team, 3 second team; Kucherov, 2 first team, 2 second team).

Join the Atlantic Division quartet Nathan MacKinnon of the Colorado Avalanche, voted for the second team for the second time, and defenseman Alex Pietrangelo of the St. Louis Blues, who landed a second-team spot for the third time, each from the Central Division.

Voting for the All-Star Team was conducted by representatives of the Professional Hockey Writers Association after the end of the regular season.
