Lucas on the NUFC draw
Lucas Moura believe Tottenham were ‘unlucky’ in their draw against Newcastle, and he believes Jose Mourinho’s side have no time to ‘cry or complain’ about the controversial penalty decision.
The Brazilian gave Spurs the lead on Sunday, only for Callum Wilson to equalize in added time after Eric Dier was penalized for handball.
Tottenham face Chelsea tonight in the Carabao Cup and Lucas insists the team must put the weekend’s setback behind them.
He told the club’s website: “We were unlucky with the result because we played really well – maybe the best performance from us this season.
“But, in the last five minutes, we concede that goal. It’s football, it’s the Premier League. When you have the option to kill the match, you must do so.
“We don’t have time to cry or complain about this. We have another important game tomorrow against a strong opponent and this is an opportunity to test our team in a competition that we want to win. It’s a big game against Chelsea. This is the type of game that every player wants to be a part of and wants to win.
“We have to be ready for what is going to be a tough week, but I think we’re strong enough to get a good result because we have a great team. We need 100% everyone with the right mindset, ready to play. and ready to give it their all. That is what matters.
