New NL case of COVID-19 linked to WestJet flight

Health officials confirmed a new case of COVID-19 in Newfoundland and Labrador on Sunday.The new case involves a man aged 20 to 39 from the Eastern Health Region who recently returned from Manitoba.

To that end, officials are urging anyone who traveled on WestJet flights 306 and 328 from Winnipeg and Toronto en route to St. John’s on September 21 to call 811 to arrange testing.

Meanwhile, they say the man who tested positive has self-isolated since returning to this province and has followed all public health rules. Contact tracing is ongoing and anyone considered to be a close contact is notified of the quarantine.

To date, 268 people have recovered while three people have died from the virus in Newfoundland and Labrador.

There are currently two active cases in the province.
