Netflix teams up with Frenchman Xilam in animated comedy series Trico


Netflix boarded “Trico”, a CGI-3D comedy series produced by Xilam, the established production banner behind the international hits “Oggy and the Cockroaches” and “Zig & Sharko”.“Trico” will be marked as a Netflix Original and will launch worldwide on the service in early 2022. Created by Hugo Gittard of Xilam (“Zig & Sharko”, “Magoo”), the non-verbal comedy series “Trico” follows a former globetrotter who is bored of the alpine life and embarks on an adventure with his fellow sheep to shake things up.

Xilam will retain the linear television distribution and merchandising rights for the second window of “Trico”.

Listed on the French stock exchange since 2002, Xilam has worked with several other platforms on high-concept animated shows, including “Chip ‘n’ Dale”, a reboot of the cult series, for Disney Plus. Xilam has also recently expanded into feature films aimed at a more mature audience and won an Oscar nomination for “I Lost My Body” which won first prize at Cannes Critics’ Week. “I Lost My Body” was purchased by Netflix after its Cannes premiere for worldwide rights, with the exception of a few territories.
