Jose Mourinho has said Tottenham Hotspur’s Erik Lamela cannot play against Maccabi Haifa on Thursday now, according to his comments to Football London.
Lamela helped Tottenham to victory over Chelsea last night as he put in a big performance out of position.
Lamela was forced to play up front for much of the game yesterday, and the Argentinian did the job of a striker, as he came home from Tottenham’s equalizer late.
Lamela’s strike proved crucial, as Spurs continued to win on penalties.
And the winger’s big effort for the team was praised by Mourinho.
“Coco was amazing. He was amazing. I can’t play with him on Thursday. I know why you are asking about Erik Lamela, but so many players have done so well, ”said Mourinho.
Lamela came out after the game and admitted he had a problem with his right foot so Tottenham will be very careful to take it back.
If Lamela is to miss on Thursday, it could give Dele Alli or Ryan Sessegnon a chance to get back into the squad.
