Meghan’s time in the royal family has been marred by tabloid headlines, including a series of reported feuds between the Duchess and various members of the royal family. The most high-profile story, however, was the one claiming Meghan was not getting along with her sister-in-law, Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge.
While some sources have said the feud never really existed in the first place, a new book details how Meghan actually felt for Kate and why she could still feel bitter towards Prince William’s wife.
Meghan Markle’s problems with Prince Harry’s family
Meghan officially joined the royal family in May 2018, when she married Britain’s favorite royal, Prince Harry. However, it wasn’t long before the negative headlines started in earnest, with numerous posts claiming Meghan was demanding, picky and tough to get along with.
Multiple reports said Markle mistreated everyone from Camilla Parker Bowles to Prince William and that she treated palace staff like second-class citizens.
Ultimately, however, it was Meghan’s relationship with Kate that would ignite the public’s imaginations. Just months after Meghan married Prince Harry, the tabloids began to run stories that Meghan and Kate were embroiled in a feud.
Some sources claimed the feud started at Meghan’s wedding and the two clashed over bridesmaids’ dresses, but others said it was all due to Meghan’s alleged treatment of staff members From the palace.

Over time, other sources of information began to report that the real feud never took place between Meghan and Kate. On the contrary, the media revealed that it was Prince William and Prince Harry who started having real problems after Prince Harry married Meghan.
Prince Harry appeared to confirm the rumors at the end of 2019 when he admitted they were on ‘different paths’.
As for Meghan and Kate, most news outlets now agree that the two women were just too different to form a true bond. However, a new book has new details on their relationship, and if those details are true, Meghan has never had the chance to be friends with her sister-in-law.
Meghan Markle was not ready to be treated as the ‘second best’
A new book about the royal family, titled Kensington Palace: an intimate memory of Queen Mary to Meghan Markle, includes a number of details about Meghan’s time within the palace walls. The book’s sources have a lot to say about Markle’s relationship with Kate, claiming that Markle was resentful from the start and didn’t want to be treated like “second best.”
Her feelings were compounded by the fact that her residence at Kensington Palace was much smaller than the one Kate lived in. Sources have revealed that Meghan has ‘lost’ her on several occasions and went so far as to raise her voice and stomp her feet when she felt like she wasn’t receiving the same level of attention Kate was receiving.
As one source put it, Meghan “has enjoyed success in Hollywood and has established herself as an emerging figure as an activist. This was all the opposite of her royal life where people behave towards you based on where you are in the line of succession. She was never going to be satisfied as long as she felt second place ahead of Catherine.
Regardless of what exactly happened within the palace walls, Meghan is now on her own – and on her own path, separate from that of the royal family.
