While there is no explicit connection, Lanez’s album and her vocal supporters are certainly the most obvious things she could be referring to.
The story of the incident has unfolded gradually over the past few weeks. In the early hours of July 12, Lanez was arrested in Hollywood for possession of a concealed weapon; Megan (real name: Megan Pete) and two other people were in the vehicle with him at the time of the arrest, although the shooting had taken place previously.
Lanez, 28, a Canadian citizen whose real name is Daystar Peterson, has kept a low profile since his arrest.
Although the incident was reported in the press just hours after it took place, details are slow to come to light. Most of them were provided by Megan herself, which resulted in Lanez being accused of being the shooter after weeks of increasingly damning hints.
“Yeah, that n-a conservative shot me,” she said in a fiery video posted to Instagram on August 20. [talk to] these blogs, lie and s––. Stop lying! Various people have claimed on social media that Megan physically assaulted Lanez or faked the shooting.
Megan, Lanez, her bodyguard and an unidentified woman who is believed to be Megan’s close friend, Kelsey Nicole, attended a party at Kylie Jenner’s house in Hollywood earlier that evening. The four were arrested by police after a report of gunshots outside a second residence; one witness described the car in which they were traveling. While initial reports indicated that Megan cut her feet on broken glass inside the car, she later claimed to be “the victim of a shootout,” but without identifying the gunman, who was widely suspected of be Lanez.
Megan, 25, then posted photos of her injured foot on Instagram but deleted them hours later. Other articles dealing with the incident followed; then on August 20, she tweeted, “Lie one more time and I’ll stop sparing you” – her claim that Lanez was the shooter followed soon after.
Surveillance footage from the arrest shows Lanez, the unidentified woman, and later Megan lying on the ground near the vehicle, surrounded by several police cars with a hovering helicopter.
Lanez was released hours after his arrest on $ 35,000 bail, according to the LA County Sheriff’s Department. He is due in court on October 13.
A representative of LAPD said Variety that there has been no update in the investigation into the incident, which began in July based on Megan’s initial claims on her Instagram post. “On July 24, our office asked law enforcement for further investigation before rendering a decision on a charge of criminal assault with a semi-automatic firearm – personal use of a firearm,” against [Lanez]Reads a statement from the prosecutor’s office.
In a cover interview with Variety nine days after the shooting, Megan declined to discuss details but said, “I’m not the type of person who can stay downstairs for long. I don’t like to be sad or keep myself in a dark place because I know it could be the worst thing that can happen, but pain and bad things don’t last long. This sentiment is reflected in Wednesday’s comment: “Why are you so upset I don’t want to be sad in bed?” ”
The incident did nothing to slow down his burgeoning career. She and Cardi B released the single “WAP” in August, and she is the musical guest on the first season of “Saturday Night Live” on October 3.
