A penny for the thoughts of Jadon Sancho at this time. What must the Borussia Dortmund winger be thinking, seeing his name in the press every day without fail? Does he ignore speculation or allow himself to be overwhelmed by it? The 20-year-old, despite the suggestion that he wants to move to Manchester United, is he willing to give up that desire in exchange for a calmer life?

It’s no wonder Sancho has underperformed playing for England in their recent Nations League fixtures against Iceland and Denmark. He must have a lot in mind.

Of course, it wasn’t just the media that were relentless in their mention of Sancho. Hardly a day goes by without United fans vocalizing their eagerness for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side to make a deal for him. Everyone now knows that Sancho is an elite talent; everyone has seen the YouTube highlight reels, they have read her awesome lens and help numbers. He ticks all the boxes.

For weeks, however, it seemed like the saga would never end. United unexpectedly signed Donny van de Beek, allaying fans’ fears they could spend the whole summer without a marquee signing. But the recent revelation that United have made progress in talks about agent fees and personal terms with the player comes like music to almost everyone’s ears – with the exception of Dortmund himself, who still hold 108. million pounds sterling.

Solskjaer gave the impression of a relaxed manager about transfer activities in his last interview, but the truth is surely the United boss is eager to welcome Sancho. It is slowly becoming a reality. Finally.

He was asked if he would be happy if United did not sign more players this summer and Solskjaer was generally a diplomat.

“I’m very happy to work with these players and the team,” he replied. “We are always trying to improve and see if it is possible to improve this team and bring in players who will have the right level of quality, the right personality and all the right criteria.

“We all know this summer and this year has been very strange and it’s important that everyone understands that this has an effect on football and that not everyone can spend millions and millions, and new millions. . ”

Reading between the lines, however, it’s clear that Solskjaer wants more additions and it would be a bummer if Van de Beek were the lone newcomer to Old Trafford this summer. United consider a major right-wing move their No.1 priority and that has been their position for some time.

But following Sancho’s latest update, the equation for United is now simpler than it has ever been; they have to pay what Dortmund demand of the player.

With less than a month of the summer window remaining, the time for poker negotiations is over. Whether the German club want all the money up front or whether they will accept add-ons (which is United’s preference), it’s time to stop playing.

Chelsea have spent over £ 200million this summer on five additions. United have never sought this level of upheaval this summer. Their goal was simple and streamlined, to want to sign Sancho.

Now is the time to finally see the saga to an acceptable conclusion. Fans will not forgive if everything fails at this point.
