Manchester United U23 3-5 Liverpool FC stress young Man Utd of Neil Wood loses insane game


Manchester United’s Under-23s faced a major test at Leigh Sports Village tonight as they took on Liverpool’s top youngsters (kick-off was at 7pm).United are now in the top division of Under-23 football after winning a promotion under Neil Wood last season and that means they are up against the best young teams from across the country.

Having lost loans like James Garner, Dylan Levitt, Tahith Chong and Aliou Traore, it could be a tough season for United, who were beaten well by Leicester in their opener and again here by Liverpool.

Mark Helm, Hannibal Mejbri and Shola Shoretire were among those named to the squad, as Liverpool secured a 5-3 victory over Leigh. Jack Bearne scored a brace for the visitors, with Anthony Elanga, Hannibal Mejbri and Charlie McCann for United. Leighton Clarkson and Shoretire both saw red in the second half.

United XI: Mastny; Bejger, Fish (capitaine), Bernard, Svidersky; McCann, Wellens; Shoretire, Helm, Mejbri; Elanga.
