Manchester United defender sends message to Dayot Upamecano after his France debut

Manchester United defender Timothy Fosu-Mensah took to social media this weekend to congratulate Dayot Upamecano on his international debut.RB Leipzig defender Upamecano made his first appearance for the French national team on Saturday night, beating Sweden 1-0 in a Nations League meeting.

Upamecano played the entire game in Stockholm as Kylian Mbappe scored the only goal of the game to get all three points. United striker Anthony Martial shone from the bench and won a penalty after being fouled by club teammate Victor Lindelof, before Antoine Griezmann shot over the bar.

Speaking to social media on Sunday afternoon, Upamecano posted a photo of his debut on Instagram as he spoke about his honor after making his international debut.

United advocate Fosu-Mensah was one of thousands to ‘like’ the photo and commented on a clapping emoji below.

Fosu-Mensah’s comment led to inevitable transfer speculation from fans, with one responding to his post saying ‘Bring him to United’, while another called the defender “Agent Timo”.

The social media activity comes at a time when Upamecano is heavily linked with a move from RB Leipzig to the Summer Window.

United are ready to sign a new center-back if the right opportunity presents itself with Upamecano, a player who meets the club’s transfer criteria to sign the best young talents in European football.

Upamecano only signed a new deal with RB Leipzig in July, which saw him extend his stay until 2023, but the contract is believed to include a € 42million release clause that will be active from next summer.
