Manchester United transfer target Sergio Reguilon allayed fears over the severity of his ankle injury after hitting the bridge in Spain’s 4-0 win over Ukraine on Sunday.

The left-back’s excellent international debut ended bitterly when he suffered a serious injury following a collision with Viktor Kovalenko in the stoppage time.

Reguilon let out an audible cry of pain as his left foot rolled across the field.

The Spanish national team’s official Twitter account posted an update indicating that the defender suffered an external sprain to his left ankle.

And the 23-year-old has taken to social media himself to allay fears of a long-term problem.

He said, “A week and like new. “

Reguilon was reportedly offered to United as Real Madrid favored Marcelo and Ferland Mendy in his post.

The left-back had a successful year on loan at Sevilla last season and is valued at around £ 18million.

The Spaniard was also on Chelsea’s shortlist as an alternative to their £ 50million acquisition Ben Chilwell.
