Gabriel Jesus will miss Manchester City’s next three games – and possibly more – after suffering an injury in the Wolves win on Monday. The extent of the problem has not been revealed, but the Brazilian FA have announced that he has withdrawn from his squad for the World Cup qualifiers next month.

With Sergio Aguero until the international break is over, that means City enter Sunday’s clash with Leicester without a recognized striker other than 17-year-old Liam Delap, who scored on his debut in the victory of the Carabao Cup against Wolves last night.

Jesus was replaced in the Brazil squad by Mattheus Cunha from Hertha Berlin, the website of the Brazilian national team announcing: “Last Wednesday (23) the English team contacted the Brazilian national team doctor , Rodrigo Lasnar, reporting the injury of the athlete, detected after the match against Wolverhampton, Monday (21), in the Premier League. ”

Jesus tweeted “I’ll be back soon” after the news broke.
