Liverpool residents vow to ‘cheer up’ by putting up Christmas decorations sooner than ever


Today marks 100 days before Christmas and the people of Liverpool are determined to start celebrating early this year.While it might still seem like a long time, it might not be many more weeks before you start seeing those sparkling garlands popping up in the city windows.

Last year we noticed that the people of Merseyside were anxious to get an early start, with trees spotted from afar long before the end of November.

Now, after a difficult year for many due to the coronavirus pandemic, people are more determined than ever to spread festive joy. Will you be setting up your decorations at the start of this year? Let us know in the comments below.

Today we asked members of our Liverpool Christmas Facebook group if they plan to hand over their decorations earlier this year and many agreed.

Carmen Lockyer said: Yes, if it can brighten up a miserable year and lift our spirits, why not brighten our streets and our homes, cannot break any covid laws.

Helen Harrison agreed, “Definitely up earlier this year !!!! ”

Sam Crosby said, “Yeah, right after Bonfire Night.

And Kayliegh Demunnik plans to plant his tree even earlier. She said, “November 1st. Need some extra joy and happiness this year. Don’t take anything for granted.

Denise Campbell added, “I can’t wait to save the tree for December to keep it fresh and smelling good.”

But not everyone is quite ready to start the festivities.
