Liv Tyler leaves ‘911 Lone Star’: Michelle Blake comes out in season 2

9-1-1: lone star is undergoing her first major cast reshuffle: Liv Tyler will not be returning to the Fox spin-off in season 2, TVLine has confirmed. Her character, Paramedic Michelle Blake, is going not to be recast.

“What a pleasure to have a movie star of Liv Tyler’s stature to help us launch the first season of 911: lone star,Showrunner Tim Minear said in a statement. “We loved working with Liv and we will forever be indebted to her for her haunting and powerful portrayal of Michelle Blake. While we got to tell a full chapter of Michelle’s story, like with Connie Britton on our mothership, we also feel like there are more stories to be told. The door here will always be open for a comeback. ”

According to our sister ad Deadline, COVID-19 played a role in Tyler’s decision to leave. The UK-based actress’ London-Los Angeles journey would have been untenable given travel restrictions caused by the pandemic, which has claimed 200,000 lives in the United States.

The void of Tyler’s departure will be filled in season 2 by Costume veterinarian Gina Torres, whose cast as new Paramedic Tommy Vega was announced earlier this month.

9-1-1: lone star is set to begin production of Season 2 later this fall for a 2021 premiere.
