Love it or hate it, it is undeniable that KUWTK has changed the face of entertainment. Writing for Slate, Willa Paskin explains how the Kardashians – especially Kim – captured a moment of cultural change and rode that wave to the very end:

“No one encapsulates or is as responsible for transforming the way we think about celebrities and celebrity today as Kardashian, who was born in the chaotic final days of the old world celebrity order,” but who, alongside his loved ones, brought us into the world. new, like the first sea creatures to set foot on the shore and flourish there, instead of suffocating on the beach.

This description might be a little dramatic, but there’s a lot of truth to a story that shows how the Kardashians made the transition from tabloid headlines to social media fandom. They’ve managed to turn being mocked for arrogance and superficiality into true platforms of influence.

KUWTK was at the center of that transition, and the series itself has changed as the family has gone from rising stars to trying to make their way into the limelight in some of the world’s most famous people.

‘KUWTK’ struggled to keep fans interested

Nobody expected KUWTK to be as popular as she was, and it certainly lasted a lot longer than anyone predicted. However, fans of its inevitable conclusion have started to spread to fans in recent years.

The show mainly followed the lives of Kim, Kourtney and Khloe Kardashian and their younger sisters Kylie and Kendall Jenner. When the show started, the older sisters were socialized with lots of content to keep fans engaged. The two youngest were children who added light entertainment.

As the sisters got older and found their own careers, built families, and left the nuclear family setup that was initially a part of the show, it was increasingly difficult to keep fans engaged.

The Jenner sisters had different contractual obligations to the show, so Kim, Kourtney, and Khloé Kardashian had to work harder and harder to come up with stories for the show.

When Kim confronted Kourtney about not pulling her weight, the fight was epic and Kourtney’s eventual departure from the series made the weight of happy fans even heavier on the remaining sisters.

Fans aren’t shocked that ‘KUWTK’ ends

A thriving Reddit community for KUWTK is a natural place for fans to react to the big news that Season 20 will be the last. Of course, many fans are sad about the news. After all, the series has been running for as long as some young fans can remember.

Yet even those who are disappointed with the decision are not shocked.

“They all seemed really overwhelmed for a while,” one commenter noted. “It’s sad because [it’s] really the end of an era for pop culture, but it took a long time to come, ”added another. One fan noted that while their personal feelings were complicated, ending the show was the right decision: “F ** k [I]I am moved but it had to happen.
