Kanye West Gets Elon Musk’s Approval To Give His Artists Back Masters


Kanye West challenges Universal to follow his lead after pledging to give GOOD Music artists back their share of their masters.

Kanye West has had a lot on his plate since – an upcoming presidential election, a clothing brand, etc. – but over the last week he’s made it his mission to permanently change the music industry. He demanded that the major labels he signed allow him to redeem his masters while sharing his entire contract on Twitter for the world to read.

Now, it’s no secret that Kanye West has a close relationship with Elon Musk. The Tesla founder even joked that Kanye West was the person who inspired him the most, even though he could have been serious. Kanye recently shared a screenshot of a text message exchange between him and Musk. The screenshot reveals Ye’s dissatisfaction with the contracts signed by the artists at GOOD Music, adding that it was the same lawyers who made his deal who made theirs.

“Do you want to change them? It would be powerful, ”Musk wrote in response.

“I’m going to change them now,” he wrote.

At 3:01 p.m., Kanye sent Musk a screenshot of his Twitter profile after he tweeted, “I give back to all good musical artists my 50% share of their masters.

Over the weekend, Kanye West shared a seven-point proposal to restructure the music industry’s contracts. Much of it was to deal with royalties and masters, as well as the label’s advances on record deals. You can read it all here. Check out the screenshot of ‘Ye’ below.
