Jon Jones teases possible light heavyweight return after Jan Blachowicz claims vacant title

Jon Jones recently gave up his UFC light heavyweight title. But now that there is a new champion in the division, he is already planning a comeback.

After beating Dominick Reyes in February and then engaging in a public battle with the UFC for the money, Jones ultimately decided to quit his 205-pound title and turn to heavyweights instead.

Then on Saturday night, Jan Blachowicz won the belt with a dominant second-round TKO finish against Reyes in the main co-event of UFC 253.

After Blachowicz dismantled Reyes, he wasted no time in inviting Jones to return to his old playground to try to reclaim the title.

“Jon Jones, where are you?” Blachowicz shouted at the former champion after his victory. ” I am here. This is how we operate in Poland. I’m waiting for you. “

This obviously caught Jones’ attention. He took to Twitter to first congratulate Blachowicz on his victory, then hinted that maybe his light heavyweight days are not behind him after all.

“Would you be annoyed if I came back and grabbed my belt really fast?” Jones wrote.

The post came after a fan slammed Jones about him facing Blachowicz’s power after a third knockout in the Polish star’s last four wins.

While Jones’ post may appear to tease a potential return to light heavyweight, it remains to be seen if he would actually want to go back and fight for the title he just gave up.

Most recently, Jones hit the weight room to start bloating in hopes of booking a heavyweight fight when he returns to action.

At the UFC 253 post-fight press conference, UFC President Dana White said he still hadn’t spoken to Jones, but if he really wanted to get back to the weights. light heavyweights, the promotion would obviously give him the first chance at Blachowicz.

“If Jon Jones wanted this fight, we wouldn’t deny Jon Jones this opportunity,” White said.

For her part, Blachowicz didn’t seem at all impressed with Jones’ performance on Twitter after calling him earlier that night.
