They are young, famous, and refuse to abide by coronavirus restrictions. A Dutch celebrity group sparked both a significant backlash and a national debate after making social media coverage with the hashtag #ikdoenietmeermee, (I’m no longer participating).
The central figure is rapper and model Famke Louise, 21, who has told her 1 million Instagram followers that she is no longer willing to accept the growing number of restrictions aimed at slowing the spread of the virus. “Only together can we take back control of government,” she said. “I am no longer participating. Free the people.«
Louise, who earlier in the pandemic took part in a government advertisement promoting compliance with coronavirus rules, was joined in her protest by hip hop star Bizzey, 35, and singers Tim Douwsma, 32, and Thomas Berge, 30, among others.
“We are no longer keeping our mouths shut,” celebrities say in their videos, referring to comments by Prime Minister Mark Rutte, who cheered football fans “just had to shut up” to prevent the spread of the virus.
