One of cinema’s most iconic franchises is set to get the TV treatment.
A Godfather series is in the works for ViacomCBS’s streaming service, which will be rebranded as Paramount + next year.
Called The Offer, the 10-part scripted limited series will focus on Al Ruddy’s experience in producing Oscar-winning films, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Paramount + will roll out its complete redesign in early 2021, with titles inspired by well-known franchises that are sure to attract an out-of-the-box audience.
In addition to their project The Godfather, ViacomCBS plans to reboot the sitcom The Game, a spin-off of the popular Girlfriends series.
Paramount + will feature the real-life crime docuseries The Real Criminal Minds, based on CBS TV’s popular Criminal Minds proceeding, after 15 seasons in February.
The platform also brings to life the iconic documentary series Behind The Music, which will explore the life and legacies of the 40 greatest artists of the past 40 years.

A previously announced children’s show set in Nickelodeon’s Spongebob Squarepants universe titled Kamp Koral will also be part of the initial bundle of the Paramount + series.
Paramount + will also be packed with programming from ViacomCBS’s strong network portfolio, planning to offer more than 30,000 TV episodes and films from well-known brands like BET, Comedy Central, MTV and Nickelodeon.
CBS All Access, the predecessor of Paramount +, launched in 2014 in the United States.
The $ 6-per-month service was early to join the standalone streaming game, offering originals like The Good Wife spinoff The Good Fight, a new Star Trek saga and the reinvention of Twilight Zone created by Jordan Peele.

ViacomCBS is hoping the 2021 name change will lend some of Paramount Studio’s Hollywood weight, according to CEO Bob Bakish.

“With Paramount +, we’re excited to create a global streaming brand in the premium broadband segment that will leverage the breadth and depth of the ViacomCBS portfolio to deliver an extraordinary collection of content for everyone to enjoy. “
The ViacomCBS streaming platform already uses the Paramount + nickname in Latin America and the Nordic countries.
