“The Godfather: Part III”, the iconic conclusion to Francis Ford Coppola’s trilogy, will return to theaters.
The new cut, which will include a new ending, will hit theaters in December ahead of a digital and DVD release, Fox News can confirm.
The film was renamed “THE GODFATHER OF Mario Puzo, Coda: The Death of Michael Corleone.” ”

The new cut will fulfill the original vision of Coppola and screenwriter Mario Puzo. Coppola was nominated for two Oscars for photography, which also received five more.
“Part III” came in 1990, 16 years after “Part II”. The sequel followed Al Pacino’s Michael Corleone who worked to separate his family from crime.
The film starred Diane Keaton, Andy Garcia and Talia Shire. Previous entries have featured appearances by Robert De Niro, Robert Duvall, and Marlon Brando.

“The Godfather Coda from Mario Puzo: The Death of Michael Corleone” is an acknowledgment of Mario and my favorite title and our original intentions for what has become “The Godfather: Part III”, ”said Coppola.
The prolific winemaker continued, “For this version of the finale, I created a new beginning and a new end, and rearranged some scenes, shots and musical cues. With these changes and the images and sound restored, for me it is a more fitting conclusion to “The Godfather” and “The Godfather: Part II” and I thank Jim Gianopulos and Paramount for allowing me to review it. ”
The acclaimed director and his production company, American Zoetrope, underwent a frame-by-frame restoration of the original film and its new version.
