An autopsy report has shed light on the tragic circumstances of Naya’s death, revealing new details about her final moments.
According to the report, released by the Ventura County Medical Examiner’s Office, Naya had visited the lake on previous trips and is described in the report as a “good swimmer”.
She is reported to have turned down a life jacket when renting a boat on July 8, but a staff member made sure that a life jacket was available on the boat for her.
The young mother and her son allegedly jumped into the water “in an area known as Diablo Cove”.
Details of the autopsy shared with PA in Los Angeles state, “Soon after, Rivera pushed the boy onto the boat. When the child looked back, he saw his mother put her arm in the air and cry out “help,” according to the report.
“Boat rental company Bryan Tomaszewski went looking for the rented boat when it was not there on time and found Josey wrapped in a towel, wearing a life jacket and asleep.
The report added: “A spare adult size life jacket was also on the boat, along with Rivera’s belongings, including her bag and cell phone.”
It is also reported that the actress originally planned to enjoy a barbecue by the lake, before changing her mind and opting to hire a boar, according to her mother, Yolanda.
Naya had no known medical history: “other than dizziness and a recent sinus infection,” the report says.
Meanwhile, The Sun reports that the star had alcohol and prescription drugs in her system when she died.
The outlet reports that the autopsy revealed: “a blood alcohol level (BAC) of 0.016.
“She also had low levels of amphetamine, caffeine, diazepam, nordiazepam, phentermine. “
The entertainment world was in mourning after news of Naya’s body being found on July 13.
In a statement, Rivera’s family said at the time: “We are very grateful for the outpouring of love and prayers for Naya, Josey and our family over the past week.
“As we mourn the loss of our beautiful legend, we are fortunate to honor his everlasting legacy and magnetic spirit. Naya was an incredible talent, but was an even bigger person, mother, daughter and sister. ”
