Full transcript as Jurgen Klopp rages against Roy Keane and Man Utd hero calls him ‘sensitive’

The Manchester United legend praised Liverpool but added that there had been some sloppy moments in the game from the Reds’ perspective – particularly for Arsenal’s opening goal.

Klopp heard the word “sloppy” out of context and punched Keane, telling him he had to watch another game if he thought the Reds were poor defensively.

Here’s a full transcript of Liverpool manager Klopp’s rant, followed by Keane’s response, on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football.

Klopp: “Did I hear that Mr. Keane said we had a sloppy performance tonight?” I could hear you already, did he say that?

“Was it a sloppy performance tonight?” I’m not sure I heard correctly. He can talk about another game because it can’t be that game. Sorry.

“It’s an incredible description of this game, it was absolutely exceptional. Nothing was broken. Absolutely nothing.

“From the first second dominant against a team in form, 100% in form. You have to be careful as hell and not be affected by the counterattacks.

“I think 60/70 percent of all the balls behind were offside, you just wait a little longer for the flag in the meantime, that’s why it doesn’t feel good but it was offside.

“Ali had to make a save, there were two balls behind, you can’t avoid that, you need a goal in these situations.

“Other than that, the football we played was absolutely exceptional tonight. So it doesn’t help for any other game. Not for Thursday, not for Sunday. Not for nothing. “

Roy Keane made the mistake of calling Liverpool ‘sloppy’

Keane: “I think you must have heard me wrong. I said there were sloppy moments but I think you were exceptional, I only praised the club. So I’m not sure you heard me correctly. ”

Klopp: “I can’t, because I looked at the speaker and heard the word sloppy, it can’t be this. ”

Keane: “You have to hear the rest.

Klopp: “I’m going to watch it 100%. ”

The discussion between the two ended there, but Keane continued to call the Liverpool boss ‘sensitive’ for taking his comment to heart.

On the match itself, Klopp added: “We had so many great moments and I don’t dream of ending every situation, we were 1-0 but we won it and it completely deserves it. Can we score more goals? Yes. Could they score? Yes. We consistently played a high line.

“How can you defend Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang without having a high line? We punished them from time to time, didn’t punish them but killed a bit of their game plan. They respected it but we did it again and again.

“We want to win the ball as high as possible, which is why I haven’t been frustrated or disappointed. Matches can go either way and if they score goals it looks a little different. It’s about how you play, how you create, and how you start. in the season, with this performance, it’s absolutely wow.

Liverpool beat Arsenal 3-1 at Anfield

“We can’t build every game the same, a building team needs more players in the area where you’re building. We try to win the first balls and be ready for the second ball. We have to be brave enough to cause them problems. , I really liked the game. I was worried at halftime not to continue but we could.

“The preseason has been difficult for everyone but it’s a strange season. The teams didn’t do exactly what they wanted to do last year, Everton have three new players and are stealing.

“We will play Arsenal again on Thursday and you will see players you haven’t seen today. Then Aston Vila Sunday that fly. Leeds, Chelsea and Arsenal are off to a rough start but nine points. ”
