Full list: 56 New York schools with confirmed cases of COVID-19


NEW YORK CITY (WABC) – The Department of Education has released a comprehensive list of 56 schools in New York City where there has been a confirmed case of COVID-19.The list contains cases from September 8 – the day the staff in the building – until September 14.The DOE says measures have been taken at all 56 schools and only one building has been closed.RELATED: City Council Members Push To Delay In-Person Learning

Two cases in separate classrooms were identified in a week at the PS 811X The Academy for Career and Living Skill on Longfellow Avenue, which reopened on Monday after a thorough cleaning and investigation. All close contacts have been quarantined and no link has been found between the two cases, officials said.

Two cases were found in separate classrooms at PS 139 and are under investigation. The building is closed for an initial period of 24 hours.

The DOE says that in all other cases, the schools remained open. Anyone who has tested positive isolates themselves and the Test and Trace Corps. and the Ministry of Health is following up on all confirmed cases.

New York offers priority testing for students and staff at 22 locations, and everyone is encouraged to get tested. For 98% of the tests performed at these sites, individuals received a result within 48 hours.

Starting in October, all schools will have a mandatory monthly random test to continue to keep transmission low.
