Reports in French media indicate that French police searched the room of Nairo Quintana and his key teammates last week during the Tour de France.

As announced for the first time on Sunday in the French weekly Sunday Newspaper, and confirmed by The team, members of an investigation team of the French gendarmes raided the Arkéa-Samsic hotel on Wednesday in Méribel after the decisive arrival of the summit at the Loze pass.

The head of the Arkéa-Samsic team, Emmanuel Hubert, confirmed the report, but declined to comment The team.

According to some reports, the police were not searching the premises of the entire France team, but rather targeting the team leader Quintana, his brother Dayer and his teammate Winner Anacona. Rooms for two healers and the team’s cars were also searched. It is not known if any suspicious products were found.

So far, the search appears to be an isolated incident on the 2020 Tour. There are no other reports of other teams or riders having their rooms searched.

There was no official comment Monday from Quintana following media reports.

Quintana crashed on the first stage of the Tour, and crashed again on stage 13, undermining its performance in the 2020 Tour. Quintana finished the Tour on Sunday in Paris 17th overall, over an hour from the winner Tadej Pogačar.
