PARIS (Reuters) – French President Emmanuel Macron said on Monday that he had had a “very good exchange” with British Prime Minister Boris Johnson on various topics including Brexit.

“Very good exchange with @BorisJohnson,” Macron tweeted. “We will strengthen our cooperation against migrant smugglers. We also discussed the consequences of the poisoning of Alexei Navalny, the situation in Lebanon and future relations between the European Union and the United Kingdom.

Earlier Monday, Johnson’s office said the two leaders had agreed negotiations on a Brexit deal must make headway this month and quickly come to a conclusion.
