France urges Bridgestone to consider alternative options for threatened plant

PARIS (Reuters) – France called Bridgestone in Japan on Wednesday 5108.T to examine alternative options for a French tire factory it plans to close due to weak demand and stiff competition.

French Labor Minister Elisabeth Borne and Junior Economy Minister Agnès Pannier-Runacher said in a joint statement that they strongly disagreed with Bridgestone’s plans to close the Bethune plant in The north of france.

The plant employs 863 people and has a production capacity of approximately 17,000 tires per day.
